Magazine redesign
Moda is Finland’s biggest knitting magazine. It combines fashion with DIY. As handicrafts have been enjoying a vogue for a while it was time to update the brand to meet the demands of new audiences. We went for a young and strong look. The expressive logotype, inspired by loops of yarns, creates a feeling that it is woven into the magazine. The white frame helps the magazine stand out in the magazine shelf.
Offering readers useful patterns and clear instructions is at the heart of Moda, but the new look also aims to inspire the readers to experiment with their style and skills. Moda’s own collection is featured as lifestyle feature stories that mix current trends with self-made garments. The fonts choices, expressive Arnhem and straightforward Akkurat, reflect the same bias – being stylistic forerunner while down-to-earth.
The new logotype was drawn by Saku Heinänen.
